Varieties of bread from the Balearic Islands

Specialties

Among the varieties of country bread they elaborate are white bread, brown bread and wholemeal bread, as well as rolls, llonguets, vienas and magranetas.

 

In terms of savoury pastries, their specialities include empanadas (panades), filled with chicken or pork, with or without peas, as well as cocarrois, both with onion and with sobrasada and or vegetable, and cocas de trempó and roasted peppers.

 

Another of their specialities is ensaimadas. They come with a wide variety of fillings: cream, whipped cream, whipped cream and chocolate, white chocolate with walnuts, chocolate and strawberry, dark chocolate, apricot, black seed squash jam and sobrasada, as well as the traditional plain ensaimadas.

 

Throughout the year, they make small coquitas, and at Easter and Christmas they also make larger ones with potato.
