Varieties of bread from the Balearic Islands
Specialties
Among the varieties of country bread, they make white bread and brown bread. You can also find 100% wholemeal breads, such as multigrain, multi-seed, wholemeal wheat and organic wholemeal xeixa. They also make different breads made with local ingredients such as walnuts, apple and wholemeal xeixa, and rosemary bread with olive oil.
Among their traditional pastries, they offer empanadas (panades) with different fillings such as meat, meat and peas, musola with peas, cocarrois, vegetable cocas, trempó, chard and roasted peppers, caramelised onion with sobrasada and figs, and pizzas.
One of their specialities is ensaimadas. They make the classic ones with cream, burnt cream and cream, as well as fig, apricot and apple, and the more modern ones with Kinder chocolate or two types of chocolate. For the last few years, they have also been making ensaimadas with roasted peppers.
They also offer classic pastries: butter croissants, potato cakes, pain au chocolat, two-chocolate napolitanas, quarto cake, apricot cake and cherry cake, muffins, crespells and oatmeal cookies, among others.
The fresh desserts available at the weekend are particularly noteworthy, such as lemon and cheesecakes, as well as other gluten-free desserts such as five-chocolate cake and gató.
They also make traditional products for each holiday, such as espinagades (spinach pies) with pork loin and musola cheese for Sant Antoni, lamb panades (pasties) and lamb panades with angel hair pasta for Easter.
