Varieties of bread from the Balearic Islands

Specialties

The varieties of farmhouse bread include white bread, brown bread, and wholemeal bread.

 

As for specialities, the ensaimadas stand out, with a wide range of up to 35 flavours. The most popular among their customers are the white chocolate with walnuts, the cream and chocolate and the cream, also noteworthy are the chocolate with strawberries, the Ferrero and, as a novelty, the Banoffee. They also offer potato cakes and a wide assortment of rubiols with different fillings: pumpkin jam, sweet potato, cottage cheese, chocolate, cream, and jam, among others.

 

As for traditional Mallorcan pastries, they make savoury flatbreads, cocarrois and pies (panades) with the typical fillings and other more special ones such as chicken with onion and cuttlefish with onion and peas.

 

They also prepare the products of Mallorca that are consumed in each festival or season. At Christmas they offer the roscón de Reyes (a sweet bread), at Carnival the coca de patata (a savoury pastry) with pieces of quince jelly and sobrassada (a spicy sausage), and at Easter the crespells (a sweet bread).

The siblings Xisco, Gaspar and Marga Aguiló Piña are the third generation of the family to run the bakery.

 

They have a wood-fired oven where they bake all their products.
