Forn Ca’n Moroto
Varieties of bread from the Balearic Islands
Specialties
Among the farmhouse bread varieties, they make white bread and brown bread.
Some of their specialities are potato cakes and ensaimadas, both plain and filled. The angel hair, apricot, burnt cream and fruit ensaimadas are particularly noteworthy.
As for the pastries, the caramelised chocolate meringue poor man’s cake with strawberries is a highlight.
They also make the island’s traditional pastries such as empanadas (panades), cocarrois and a wide range of distinct types of savoury flatbread, such as those with natural apricots, with sobrassada, with cream and with apples.
They also make the traditional products eaten at each festival, such as the Twelfth Night cake with all kinds of fillings for Christmas, the pork, eel and musola (a type of fish) pastries for Saint Anthony’s Day, and the ensaimadas (a type of spiral pastry) and sobrasada (a type of spicy sausage) cakes with quince, and sobrasada and apricot cream for Carnival.
All their products are homemade, made by hand using traditional methods and they do not have any frozen products.
