Varieties of bread from the Balearic Islands

Specialties

Among the varieties of country bread, they make white bread, brown bread and wholemeal bread. They also have special breads with different seeds.

 

One of the bakery’s star products is its ensaimadas, which have won several awards, including World’s Best Ensaimada in 2019. They make more than 70 varieties, ranging from the classic to those with surprising fillings such as fruit, pistachio, etc.

 

Also noteworthy are the products made with puff pastry, such as doblegats, apple cake, apricot cake, strawberry cake, primaveras, fruit strips, cremadillos, palmeras and puff pastry shapes, as well as llengos and músicos.

 

In addition, they make traditional products that are eaten for each holiday, such as espinagades for Sant Antoni, cocas de tajadas for carnival, rolls, empanadas (panades) and rubiols at Easter, and turrones, mantecados, greixoneres for Christmas, panettone and roscón de Reyes for Epiphany.

Rafel Solivellas has been at the helm of the bakery since 2010. (The bakery was founded in 1930.)

 

He holds the artisan pastry chef certificate awarded by the Council of Mallorca.

 

Winner of the 3rd International Competition for the World’s Best Ensaimada in 2019.

 

Winner of the Miga de Oro award on the Balearic Islands Good Bread Route 2022.

 

In 2023, they won 2nd prize for the Best Brown Bread in Mallorca.
