Varieties of bread from the Balearic Islands

Specialties

The farmhouse bread varieties of include white bread and brown bread. They also make other special types of bread such as corn and seed, multigrain, rye, chia, quinoa, and buckwheat, wholemeal with sesame and oat, among others.

 

As for specialities, there are meat, mixed, chicken and onion and curry pies. They also make savoury, sweet, and wholemeal flatbreads, as well as savoury flatbreads with trempó (a spicy sausage), vegetables, peppers, onion with sobrasada (spicy sausage) and goat’s cheese.

 

Also noteworthy are the crespells, the potato cakes and the cream, chocolate, and sweet pumpkin rolls.

 

They offer a wide variety of ensaimadas, both plain and filled: with sweet pumpkin, Nutella, cream, white chocolate, a mixture of white and dark chocolate, chocolate and cream, Kinder chocolate, Ferrero Rocher and apricot and fig, when in season.

 

They also make traditional products for each holiday, such as sliced ensaimadas for carnival and rubiols for Easter, roscón de Reyes for Christmas and special cakes for Valentine’s Day.
