Varieties of bread from the Balearic Islands
Specialties
Among the varieties of bread, we can find brown bread, corn bread, spinach bread, rye bread, and seed bread.
They make traditional Mallorcan pastries such as empanadas (panades), cocarrois and savoury cocas, which can be made with vegetables, red peppers and trempó.
One of their specialities is ensaimadas. These come in different sizes and varieties, such as plain, apple or apricot, or filled with cream, black seed squash jam, cream, Kinder, pistachio, chocolate or Lotus, among others.
Cheesecake, carrot cake and tarta reina, as well as customised cakes made to order, are other specialities.
They also make products for different festivities or seasons, such as rubiols and crespells at Easter and roscón de Reyes at Christmas.
