Bread Week from 13 to 20 October 2025

Bread Week (“Semana del Pan”) returns this October to highlight the craft of baking and artisan products 

The Balearic Islands are preparing to celebrate Bread Week from 13 to 20 October. This event aims to raise awareness and recognise the quality of artisan bread in the Balearic Islands. It will be a week full of various activities, such as guided tours of bakeries, educational workshops and talks with professional bakers. 

BREAD WEEK PROGRAMME 

Monday 13 October, at 11:00 a.m. 

Presentation of the activities for Bread Week 2025 at the Forn de La Glòria de Palma (c. de la Glòria, 7). 

Tuesday, 14 October, at 9:30 a.m. 

Bread workshops at the CEIP Sa Graduada de sa Pobla primary school led by baker Jose Luís Jaume from Forn de Can Paco. Through this activity, 5th and 6th grade primary school students will learn how to make traditional bread. They will also learn about the benefits of eating high-quality, healthy bread. 

Wednesday, 15 October, at 9:30 a.m. 

Tour of the iconic bakeries and pastry shops of Inca: Forn Can Tomeu, Forn Can Alba, Forn Sant Francesc, Pastisseria Can Delante and Forn Can Lluís. Led by Montse Ramírez, editor of Xalest, a platform for promoting the heritage, traditions and gastronomy of Mallorca.

A walk to discover the bakeries in Inca that are members of ‘Emblemàtics Balears’ and carry the Pa d’aquí (“Local Bread”) label. These are establishments that stand out both for their history and for the quality of the products they have been offering for generations.

During the tour, some interesting facts about the city of Inca will be explained. At the end, there will be an opportunity to visit the Serral de ses Monges, a prominent site in the city.

Places are limited and will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis.

Thursday 16 October, World Bread Day 

World Bread Day is celebrated every year on 16 October. This date was established by the International Union of Bakers and Confectioners (UIBC) to pay tribute to bread as a staple food and celebrate the diversity of its production and preparation with different types of wheat, as well as to recognise the work of professionals in the sector. 

Monday, 20 October, at 11:00 a.m. 

Master class ‘I want to be a baker. Visions and challenges of contemporary artisan baking’ by Simó Moreno of S’ERA Forn Artesà in Sineu, in the auditorium of the Balearic Islands Hospitality School.

Simó Moreno, founder of S’ERA Forn Artesà, will explain how he got started in the world of baking, the new concept of his shop-bakery, and his vision of the current landscape of artisan baking. Attendees will also be able to enjoy a small tasting of the products they make.

Aimed at baking, pastry and cooking students, and professionals in the sector.
